    Dedicated by the Great Northern Railway in 1926, the Astoria Column, a tower overlooking the mouth of the Columbia River, stands today as a monument to the hardships, bravery, and awe experienced by the first people to live in this corner of the world. It is a unique work of Northwest art offering an unparalleled view of the meeting of many roads.

    Experience the elegance of the late Victorian period by touring the home of Captain George Flavel. This 1886 Queen Anne home features original Eastlake influenced woodwork, period furnishings, and exotic hardwood fireplace mantels.

  • Hanthorn Cannery Museum

    OPEN: Mon-Sun 9:00am - 7:00pm

    Recounts the story of 130 years of fishing and cannery history with photos, boat displays, Columbia River Packers Association (CRPA) and Bumble Bee artifacts. Housed inside three industrial freezer rooms that were once packed full of frozen tuna, inside the oldest cannery pier on the entire Columbia River.

  • Heritage Museum

    Two floors of gallery space covering such divergent topics as the area’s Native American tribes, Astoria’s founding, immigration to Clatsop County, the local use of natural resources, and a look at the city’s often complicated relationship between vice and virtue. Complemented by an ever-changing array of temporary and traveling exhibits.

    Housed in the old Clatsop County Jail, the museum continues the building’s legacy as an actual working set for three movies: The Goonies, Short Circuit, and Come See The Paradise. Explore the films and production behind making movies in Oregon. Your visit will include the chance to make your own short movie utilizing our sets and green screens.

  • Uppertown Firefighters Museum

    Showcases vintage and antique firefighting equipment utilized by the Astoria Fire Department during its 150-year-plus history. Notable pieces include an 1876 LaFrance Hook and Ladder Truck, a 1911 La France Chemical Wagon, a 1921 Stutz Pumper, and a 1945 Mack Pumper Engine.
